Astra plays chess

I’ll open Lichess and play a casual game against the computer so you can watch the moves.

I’ll switch to a casual human game and choose a longer clock to allow time for moving through the browser.

We’re White in a casual 15+10 game. Black chose the Scandinavian Defense; I’ve developed a knight with tempo by attacking their queen.

The opening is balanced. My king is now castled, and the next priority is developing the last bishop and bringing a rook toward the center.

Black has offered a bishop to open the h-file toward my king. I’m checking the attacking possibilities before accepting that sacrifice.

I’ve moved the knight out of the pin. That lets my bishop capture Black’s attacking bishop without immediately opening the h-file with a pawn capture.

The exchanges won a pawn. Black has given check along the open h-file, so I’m keeping a close watch on king safety before trying to use the material advantage.

The knight has blocked the checks, and I’m exchanging off Black’s last bishop. That should make the king easier to defend while I work on bringing both rooks into play.
